One global app for every business client of the bank
GEMA, BBVA's Global Enterprise Mobile App — built so a small business in Mexico and a corporation in Spain could run their finances from the same product.

The problem
BBVA offered a solid digital solution to its corporate clients, but nothing built for SMEs — and nothing that could scale across segments and countries. Small business owners told us they wanted the same simple experience they had in their personal banking app.
The bank saw a chance to rethink its enterprise channels from scratch, reusing technology and engineering components wherever user needs allowed.
Defining success
The hardest question was not a screen: it was how to align the views, needs and requirements of many areas into one vision and roadmap. We answered it with four principles — customer-centric, mobile-first, global by vocation, and built with passion — and one value proposition: the fast, smart and simple way to control and predict the finances of your business.

Leading the design
As Global Senior Design Lead I grew the team from 3 to 15 designers, managed design leads in other countries, and ran two to three squads in parallel with Dual-Track Agile — discovery and delivery side by side.
- One team, really: everyone had the same space to influence product definition.
- Multichannel by default: the mobile work paved the way for the desktop experience.
- Reuse as a goal: the team contributed new components to the bank’s design system and reported 151 issues back to it.
